Have you met someone before?

[showmyads]
Do you sometimes feel déjà vu when you meet someone for the first time? Not a physical recognition but something about their personality that makes you think you’ve known them.

I met someone a couple of weeks ago like that. I suddenly had the overwhelming urge to be respectful to her without knowing why. I’d never met her before and she is only maybe 10-15 years old than me so I would normally treat her as equal, but without her even speaking I had this overriding sense of having to behave a certain way, like maybe she was my queen or king or an esteemed personage in a previous life.

It is a bit disconcerting as I tend to ignore titles and levels of hierarchy. I believe we’re all kids at heart and it is only the positions we’re in and the levels of responsibilities that we have that make us different. Otherwise, we should treat each other equally. So, having this urge to defer to this lady is totally against not only what I normally do, but certainly what I believe in. I will of course attempt to resist this unusual conditioning (if that is what it is) or at the very least try to be a bit more familiar.

I post this today as I just tried to be myself around her again and failed, quickly adapting to her personality and treating her with more respect that I would normally. Maybe she has so much energy that she is overriding mine. It’s got me flummoxed!

Have you had this kind of experience before? Is it NLP? Hidden trauma from childhood? Mother figure syndrome? I’ll continue to investigate.
