I’ve been reading Act of Faith – Conversations with P’Taah part 1 and I stumbled across something else that I hadn’t really thought about.
In the movie The Secret, the focus was all on what people want, what people desire – not really on what people needed. I just considered this to be a reflection of the materialism of the world.
But, actually, it’s not that at all.
Paraphrasing slightly: P’Taah says that we are all gods and gods do not have needs, only desires. The universe will not respond to needs.
This is actually amazing information. It explains why many proponents of the Law of Attraction permission slip focus on speaking your desire, filling yourself up with the gratitude for it then releasing your wish to the universe and it will come to you. Of course, if it is a desire, a simple wish, then it would be easy to release. And if it’s easy to release it isn’t something that important. So, no references to needs, only wants.
That means that, if you’re not finding all the other bits of advice working to get you what you want, it could be because you’re asking for something you need! Funnily enough, the more desperate you are for something, the less likely you’re going to get it. Gods aren’t desperate! They get anything they desire anytime without thinking further about it and they have eternity to ask.
So, if you have anything that you need, you should try to find a way to think of it as a want rather than a need. Guys and girls can smell desperation on someone who is lonely and will keep away, further exacerbating the loneliness. Bosses will recognise desperation in a job interview and are less likely to give the job to that person as they’re looking for people who are confident and should have been employed already by someone else. Teachers are less likely to choose the person who has their hand up repeatedly and continually in class as there seems to be a desperation for attention there, and they’ll pick someone who they feel may know the answer but aren’t that fussed about answering.
See how this works?! Turn your desperately needed thing into a casual want and it’s more likely to appear.
