There are 3 levels of Reiki training. The most common position that many Reiki practitioners are in around the world is the First Degree. You may be in first degree training for 10 to 20 years before your skill and power is great enough to move to the Second Degree. Many more years will pass before you reach the position of Master/Teacher. The training is inside your body and your body needs to evolve to generate and channel the energies necessary to heal. Not something that can be learned online!
First degree
You learn breathing, meditation and focusing techniques as well as where to place your hands on the patient’s body. As you become experienced your body and mind changes enabling more energy to be broadcast and more intuition and sensitivity to be experienced. You are also able to heal yourself. As you continue to learn from a master and continue to get attunement your ability to heal increases. Eventually your body and mind is ready for the next step.
Second degree
You learn about the symbols that help strengthen your power so that you can do distant healing. Distant healing skills can take years to develop but, if you think about quantum entanglement and how instantaneous transfer of behavioural characteristics to particles has been proven, if your mind is capable, distant healing can occur. You would use images and things relating to the person being healed and be able to direct your energies towards them.
Some say that decades of first degree practice is not necessary. If you have been on a meditative and an enlightened path for years already, you may already have latent healing powers awaiting attunement. (Please note that any form of Reiki healing is recommended to be followed only in conjunction with professional medical advice.)
Master/Teacher
Many more years later you can reach a point where you can attune others to be Reiki practitioners through a special final symbol. Being a Reiki master is a lifelong commitment. Most Reiki practitioners do quite well as a first degree Reiki practitioner for years and never need to progress further.
Just about anyone can practice Reiki. If you plan to spend $ on Reiki therapy, always check testimonials and talk to previous clients of the Reiki practitioner if necessary. Also, there are many Reiki practitioners who still consider themselves to be in training and will do it for free or a small donation. Try them out first if you wish to experience it.
